The Zendesk Migration Utility supports the ability to import information about Tickets and Forums and associated items from a set of XML documents and associated attachments.
The files containing the XML might have been generated as an interim set of files during a previous migration from another instance of Zendesk or alternative Help Desk application supported by the migration utility.
The files might also have originated from an alternative Help Desk application that supports the export of information in XML format, or it is even possible to create a set of XML files from scratch. This being the case it will first be necessary to ensure the structure and format of the XML files complies with the requirements of the migration utility and that a suitable manifest is created before the import can be successfully executed (see Preparing XML Files for Import).
Select the Action Type

Select "Bulk XML Import" from the list of available Actions.
Navigate to the XML File Location

- Select the "Browse" button to bring up your file explorer and navigate to the location of the files containing the XML to be imported.
Select the Zip File Containing the XML

The XML files used during the import must be contained within a .zip file along with a manifest describing each of the XML files to be included and the type of information represented (see Preparing XML Files for Import).
- Select the the .zip file containing the XML files and manifest
- Select the "Open" button to set this file name and location as the parameter in the migration utility
Enter the Import Parameters

- Enter the URL that points to your Zendesk environment into which the information should be imported (Note: the URL must be the fully qualified domain name, including the HTTP:// prefix).
- Enter your User Name used to log into Zendesk.
- Enter the your Zendesk password.
- Checking this box will match Users to be imported to those already in existence in the Zendesk database (matched by name) - leaving this box unchecked will force a new item to be created for each imported User regardless of any possible name match.
Run the Import

** WARNING **Before running the import be sure to roll back the results of any previously aborted or incorrectly executed operation (see Deleting Imported Data).
1. Select the "Import" button to invoke the migration.
The utility will now connect with your target Zendesk environment using the supplied credentials and import the information pertaining to Tickets and Forums.
Progress can and should be monitored and successful completion confirmed using the screens and messages displayed once the migration is running (see Monitoring Progress of an Import).
