During the course of a migration the operation can sometimes experience external or environmental issues that prevent the successful creation and update of information.
For example there is sometimes a delay before new objects are included in the Zendesk search index, which prevents the identification of existing Users, causing a failed attempt to create what would be a duplicate User.
This in turn might prevent the creation of one or more Tickets and Comments that make use of these Users as Assignees or Authors.
If this situation occurs it is possible to rerun the migration to reapply all failed updates in order to complete the migration of all information.
If any updates failed during the running of your migration restart the migration to re-apply the failed updates as follows:
- From within the main/home page for the Migration Utility ensure the ACTIONS tab is open and select the option to Restart the last Import
- Complete the credentials for the failed migration if not already present
- Select the Restart button to invoke the operation
The Migration Utility will identify all failed updates occurring during the most recent migration executed against this Zendesk account.
If any exist the migration will invoke an import to reapply the failed updates which will be shown on the progress page (see Monitoring the Progress of an Import).
*Note: if the migration failed to complete successfully, regardless of any update failures, the import will first recover to the point of failure and then complete the migration (see Recovering if the Migration Aborts). Then once the migration has completed it will be necessary to restart the import again in order to reapply the failed updates.
