Kayako V3 doesn't provide a REST API that can be used to automatically export the information ready for import into Zendesk.
However, if the information is exported from Kayako V3 manually in MySQL database extraction file format it is possible to use the Zendesk Migration Utility to import into your Zendesk database.
Select the Action Type
Select "Migrate" from the list of available Actions.
Enter the Export Parameters
- Select "Kayako V3" from the combo box.
- Before the information from Kayako V3 can be imported into Zendesk it is necessary to export the data from Kayako in a zipped up MySQL Database Extraction file format, Use the browse button to locate this zip file on your system.
- Checking this box will allow the default mappings between Kayako V3 and Zendesk to be overridden (see Mapping System Values) - *Note: leaving unchecked will use the default settings unless the migration utility identifies the presence of custom status values in your source Kayako V3 database, in which case the "Define Mappings" screen will be displayed before the migration can be run.
- Select whether to export only those Tickets that are "Active", or "All" to migrate the entire history of tickets in the Kayako database, regardless of current status.
Enter the Import Parameters
- Enter the URL that points to your Zendesk environment into which the information should be imported (Note: the URL must b e the fully qualified domain name, including the HTTP:// prefix).
- Enter your User Name used to log into Zendesk.
- Enter the your Zendesk password.
Run the Migration
** WARNING ** Before running the migration be sure to roll back the results of any previously aborted or incorrectly executed operation (see Deleting Imported Data).
- Select the "Migrate" button to invoke the migration.
The utility will now connect with your Kayako V3 Help Desk via the API using the supplied credentials and export the information pertaining to Tickets and Forums, then import the information into your target Zendesk database.
Progress can and should be monitored and successful completion confirmed using the screens and messages displayed once the migration is running (see Monitoring Progress of a Migration).
